Optional Interview Questions

What's new
Researchers can now mark any guide question as optional. When enabled, participants see a skip button on that question during the interview and any skips are noted in the transcript.
Why it matters
Forcing participants to answer every question risks drop-off and low-quality responses, especially in sensitive studies or repetitive internal research. Making a question optional gives participants control over what they share, which keeps engagement higher and the data more honest.
Used for
Internal employee research where participants may have already answered similar questions, studies on sensitive topics, and any study where certain questions are contextually relevant to only some participants.
How to use it
In the study guide, open any question's settings and toggle on "Optional." The skip button will appear for participants on that question during the interview. Note: questions with skip logic cannot be made optional, and vice versa.
