PDF, DOCX, and Video File Uploads

What's new
PDF, DOCX, and MP4 video are now supported file formats, alongside images, everywhere a study accepts a file. That includes stimulus content researchers show participants and files participants submit in an upload section.

Why it matters
A spec, a signed document, or a short clip can now move through a study exactly as it exists. Researchers get more flexibility in what they show participants, and participants get more ways to submit evidence or context for their answers.

Used for

• Showing a product demo or walkthrough video before asking reaction questions

• Testing a written document, contract, or spec for comprehension and clarity

• Asking participants to upload a document, like a bill or a form, as proof or context for their answer

• Collecting a short video submission from a participant instead of a written response

• Playing an audio clip (saved as MP4 with a placeholder image) for sound or messaging feedback

How to use it
For stimulus content, open Question Settings for any question in your Study Guide, select Stimulus, and enable it. Video files can be up to 2GB, and PDF or DOCX files up to 20MB.

For participant upload sections, set the section type to Image, Video, or Document. Video and document uploads for participants need to be turned on for your organization. If you don't see them as options, reach out to your Outset contact to enable them.
